Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Email address — collected when you join our waitlist or create an account. Used solely to communicate product updates and grant access.
  • Uploaded PDF content — documents you upload are transmitted to our AI processing pipeline to generate summaries. We do not permanently store the raw content of your PDF after processing is complete.
  • Usage data — anonymised data such as pages visited, features used, and session duration, collected via standard server logs and analytics tools.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the PDF summarisation service.
  • To send you early-access notifications, product announcements, and service updates related to PDF Summary.
  • To diagnose technical issues and monitor service reliability.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

3. PDF Document Storage

Uploaded PDF files are processed in memory and transmitted securely to our AI provider for summary generation. PDFs are not stored on our servers after processing is complete. Generated summaries may be temporarily cached to support export and in-session review, and are deleted when your session ends or within 24 hours, whichever comes first.

4. Data Retention

  • Waitlist emails — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Account data — retained for the lifetime of your account plus 30 days after closure.
  • PDF content — not retained after processing (see Section 3).
  • Usage logs — retained for up to 90 days for security and performance analysis.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

6. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers to operate the service:

  • AI processing — PDF content is sent to an AI provider under a data processing agreement to generate summaries.
  • Email delivery — a transactional email provider is used to send notifications.
  • Analytics — privacy-focused, anonymised analytics to understand usage patterns.

7. Children's Privacy

PDF Summary is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
